How much online time is required?
There is no requirement of time, unless extra support is needed. It can be as little or as much as a student/family desires.
What is required for attendance?
Flexible, regular, weekly check-ins are required (live check-in, phone call, email or other as determined by teacher & parent)
How are students assessed?
Reading & Math Portfolios, quarterly writing assignments, Science/Social Studies projects(tied to at-home curriculum), iReady assessment, Reading Fluency & Comprehension checks
Can my child work above/below their grade level for curriculum?
Yes, a student should work at the level that they are currently at. The teacher can provide support and guidance with these decisions.
Are live lessons provided?
Weekly Live Classes are provided in Reading, Math & Writing- optional attendance, sessions are recorded and provided to families.
What support will my child receive from the teacher?
1:1 support is provided by the teacher as needed
Will my student work with the same teacher?
Your student(family) will remain with the same advisory teacher for 4 years. (4K-2 grades & 3-6 grades) Siblings are placed with the same advisory teacher.
How will my child’s education be individualized?
At the ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) meeting, the student, parents/guardians and teacher develop an educational plan together that best meets the of the student.
What is the parent/guardian’s role at the elementary school level?
Parents/guardians play an integral role as learning coaches in supporting the daily learning of the student, such as providing instruction in core subjects, differentiating work as needed, reteaching as necessary and guiding their learning path. They are supported by the advisory teacher for guidance in the learning process.
What is provided for the student?
Students are provided with a laptop and internet reimbursement as needed. All curriculum and materials, to include: print materials, books, school & art supplies (textbooks, lab kits, etc.) are sent directly to the home.
What curriculum options are available?
A variety of pre-approved curriculum choices are available. Teachers and parents will discuss what curriculum options may be best suited to meet the needs of the student. Many print and digital options are available.
Are there clubs available to students?
Yes, a variety of virtual clubs are available to students.
What social opportunities are there?
Community building through virtual student activities and other teacher-led events
Are extracurricular activities available?
Extracurricular learning opportunities funded through the student allotments
