Building Resiliency Assets and Values in Everyone (BRAVE)
The mission of the BRAVE program is to provide educational, social, health, and recreational programming in a collaborative and innovative manner to all members of the community in a safe, healthy, drug-free and supportive environment. The award of a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant allows the BRAVE program to offer complete FREE programming at Barlow Park Journey.
- BRAVE Morning Enrichment is available Monday through Friday from 6:45 am until the beginning of the school day.
- BRAVE after-school programming at Barlow Park Journey is offered five days per week, Monday-Friday until 5:00 pm.
- Students join BRAVE staff immediately after school is dismissed.
- They are supervised the entire time that they are transitioning from their classroom to the BRAVE programming area.
- Once they are under the care of BRAVE staff, they are given a healthy snack and head to homework help or skill-building.
- Students work in small groups to complete homework or practice skills that they are learning in their grade levels.
- Homework and/or skill-building is followed by recess to burn off some energy
- Students enjoy enrichment classes to round out the afternoon
The enrichment classes change regularly. Some students attend BRAVE five days per week while others come only one day per week. Students are welcome to attend as often as they are able. Parents who are interested in registering their child for BRAVE Morning Enrichment or After School Enrichment should visit the BRAVE Registration page of our website. Registration happens twice a year in September and in January. New students are welcome to join the program throughout the school year by contacting Site Coordinator Dakota Stark.
